ACHIEVEMENTS & VISION

  • Elevated Student Voice: Advocated for an elected Student Senate representing the middle and high schools and the installation of a Student Board Member on the Board of Education. Supported student participation in SRVUSD District committees.

  • Expanded College and Career Pathways: Successfully advocated for the expansion of course options to provide diverse choices for all students, especially those seeking alternative paths to a traditional college education.

  • Implementation of Data Dashboard: Supported the development of a comprehensive data dashboard to assess each SRVUSD program’s effectiveness and identify areas for improvement, delivering data driven decision-making tools to the SRVUSD Board of Education members and staff.

  • No More “Me too:” Successfully renegotiated the contracts of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents eliminating the “me too” clause that automatically granted raises tied to union agreements, ensuring fair and transparent compensation practices.

  • Facility Improvements: Participated in establishing a master plan for facilities improvements, ensuring safe and modern learning environments.

  • Building Community Engagement: Cultivated robust connections between the schools and the community through transparent communication and active involvement, including regular school visits and the initiation of Trustee office hours, fostering a culture of openness and collaboration.

  • Strategic Directions and Learner Profile: Supported the creation of SRVUSD’s Strategic Directions and Learner Profile, serving as guiding principles for preparing our students for future success in an ever-evolving world.

  • Promoting Student Health and Well-being: Advocated for the implementation of a peer counseling program in our secondary schools, empowering students to support their peers facing challenges and promoting a culture of inclusivity and support

During Shelley’s tenure on the school board, she helped create numerous advancements and improvements, including:
